How to properly connect a leather belt and a treadle sewing machine:

Shorten the belt to the required length according to the original belt, or by threading the belt through the machine and cutting it about 2 cm shorter after marking (the belt will stretch). Make a hole for the buckle at both ends (with a nail or screwdriver) so that the size of the hole is proportional to the strength of the buckle and that it is further from the edge and in the middle.

Putting the prepared belt on the sewing machine:

Untie the belt in the buckle and put it on the sewing machine so that it is correctly inserted in the mechanism for driving the treadle sewing machine. Connect the belt, but so that the bent part of the buckle (the sharp part) is on the inner peripheral side of the belt. Put the belt on the treadle wheel of the sewing machine. Check that the belt is adequately tensioned and that it does not rub anywhere due to poor insertion. Close the clip with pliers so that it is well closed and the ends of the belt are properly together.
